KUCHING: More than 500 participants will take part in the first-ever “Asnaf Health Ride” organised by Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) in collaboration with Sarawak Cycling Association (SCA) to help the less fortunate.
The event aims to serve a platform to identify, locate, and assist those who are categorised under “hardcore poor”, said TBS general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie.
Shibli explained that in order to do that, one has to download an application onto their smartphone to send a report to TBS (by taking and uploading a picture of the house of the person they think needs assistance), who will then conduct a background check.
“The application was launched last year in version one, with a total of 97 houses reported by the public and we had successfully assisted them.
“Therefore, the Asnaf Health Ride event will cover 20km along the road of Petrajaya and Jalan Haji Bahrin with two pits tops at Rumah Asnaf along that area,” he told reporters during the press conference here.
Also present at the press conference were SCA president Datuk Benjamin Hasbie, who hoped that the event will be a success as it will give back to those who need it the most.
He also added that may the event will be a listed as an annual event in the Sarawak events calendar.
The event will be held here at Majma Mall on March 24 this year.
