KUCHING: Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong has advised “Bantuan Sara Hidup”(BSH) applicants to update their accounts and provide handphone contacts in order to get more benefits from the Health Ministry.
She told a press conference here today two healthcare schemes had been introduced for the benefit of the rakyat (people), especially in the lower income group.
She said mySalam, a national health insurance scheme, covered those aged between 18 and 55.
“If they are diagnosed with any of the 36 types of critical diseases, they are entitled to receive RM8,000. The patients are entitled to have RM50 each per day if they were admitted to a government hospital,” Yong explained.
“This is made possible through the efforts of the Pakatan Harapan government and a private company,” she added.
“For the Peduli Kesihatan Scheme (PeKa B40), the beneficiaries will be given free health screening which included cholesterol check, blood pressure check and diabetes screening.
“In cases of chronic sicknesses like cancer, each patient will receive RM500 while those in Sabah and Sarawak will get RM1,000 each. Assistance includes wheelchairs and pace makers. This scheme will benefit about 800,000 people nationwide.”
Yong stressed that it was vital for the BSH recipients to update their status at the Inland Revenue Department, especially their mobile phone contacts.
“If a recipient does not have a mobile phone, he or she can use his family or friends’ phones,” she said.
