KUCHING: Police arrested a robbery suspect at his house in Kampung Sekedup, Batu Kawa last Wednesday.
When he was arrested at 4.05pm he did not put up any resistance, said Kuching acting police chief, Supt Ismail Mahmood.
He said the person has four previous convictions including for drug offences. His latest crime was robbing a convenience store.
Should he be convicted, he would face 14 years’ jail and be fined under Section 392 of the Penal Code.
Ismail, who said that the crime situation in Kuching is under control, asked the public to inform the police about any crime that they witnessed.
Members of the public, he said, should work with the police to combat crimes.
In another case, Ismail said a 26-year-old man was arrested under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for having in his possession 639gm of ganja in his house at Kpg Astana about 7.15pm last Tuesday.
The suspect led the police to his bedroom to recover the drugs. He was detained for further questioning.
