MIRI: A woman was seriously injured after the motorcycle she was riding collided with a car at Jalan Bakam here last Saturday evening. The incident took place at around 6.00pm when the 34- year-old woman was heading to the city centre from Bekenu with her husband and their cousin, riding another motorcycle, following her from behind.
According to sources, the victim was believed to have hit the right side of a Perodua Myvi car travelling on the opposite lane while negotiating a road bend.
“As a result of the collision, the victim was thrown off the machine and sustained serious facial and bodily injuries.
“The victim’s husband and cousin sustained minor injuries after falling off their motorcycle while trying to avoid hitting her,” the sources said, adding the injured woman was taken to Miri Hospital for treatment. The car driver was uninjured in the incident and the cause of the accident was being investigated.
