SEBAUH: The Village Security and Development Committee (JKKKs) have been asked to assist the government in producing more local experts for the state’s development.
Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom also suggested that JKKKs, especially in the longhouses in Kemena constituency, focus on the education development of youths.
“As far as possible, the youths of today must be equipped with relevant knowledge and skills which will enable them to have the advantage in the employment market,” he added.
Rundi said the JKKKs should play an active role in formulating both short and long term plans for the longhouse children’s education.
The Kemena assemblyman was speaking at the closing of a short-term in-situ course for the planting of the Musang King durians at Rumah Jambai @Kamarudin Ensut, Sungai Semabak, here.
He added it was his hope to see more people from Kemena pursuing their education up to the tertiary level.
Later, he announced a RM56,000 to JKKK Rumah Jambai @ Kamarudin Ensut to repair the longhouse open verandah and RM20,000 to the longhouse Women’s Bureau.
