KUCHING: Government agencies will not hesitate to terminate contracts due to poor performances as Sarawak wants efficiency in all aspects, said political secretary to the Chief Minister Tan Kai yesterday.

Interviewed by New Sarawak Tribune, he revealed there was a re-tender notice for a contractor to do a drainage project at Batu Kawa, Lorong 3 under the Drainage and Irrigation Department.

The service of the previous contractor was terminated after Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian went to check the job done.

Tan Kai, who is assisting Dr Sim to monitor some of the contractors’ work on the ground, explained that despite warnings to the contractor, he still did not buck up so the DID was informed to do an investigation.

The findings were presented at a meeting and it was agreed that his contract should be cancelled, said Tan Kai.

The re-tender notice was published on March 2 and yesterday was the closing date.
