MIRI: Eight hundred students and teachers took part in “Let’s Read Together For 10 Minutes” organised by Pustaka Miri in collaboration with Miri Local Agenda 21 (LA21) at SK Tudan here recently.
The highlight of the day was when participants commenced reading together at exactly 11.00am for ten minutes.
Cr. Aries Leong represented Piasau assemblyman Dato’ Sebastian Ting in declaring open the event.
Pustaka also presented prizes to the winners of Home Library Competition 2016 at the function.
First place went to Raymond Sain from Lutong Baru, Miri. He took home RM1,000.00 and a certificate.
Augustus Umpie from Semariang, Kuching came in second to win RM800.
Cr. Ariffin Mohamad of Piasau Jaya Phase 1, Miri bagged the third prize of RM500.
Rita Sahara Othman from Kampung Tanjung Bungai, Bekenu walked away with a consolation prize of RM100.
The ‘Let’s Read Together For 10 Minutes’ programme (a brainchild of Library Directors Council of Malaysia) was held in conjunction with annual World Book and Copyright Day which is celebrated annually on 23 April.
