MIRI: Nearly 100 stalls are expected to take part in Baram Agrofest which will be held from April 12 to 14 in Marudi this year.
These booths would not only showcase farming products but also local handicrafts.
Baram MP Anyie Ngau is scheduled to do the soft launching on April 12 while Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas will officiate at the closing ceremony on April 14.
According to a spokesperson, the Agrofest will not only showcase latest agriculture technology, but also provide a platform for the public and private sectors to exhibit their agriculture products.
The event is the first to be held in Marudi with the main objective of roping in more young entrepreneurs to get involved in farming industry apart from promoting the agriculture and agro-based industry in the state.
Among the highlights would be a demonstration on durian planting and a course on “Kelulut” honey farming.
The event is organised by the Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development, Department of Agriculture and Department of Veterinary Services.
