KUCHING: The second LeFestour shopping carnival received tremendous response from over 30,000 people during its Kuching leg held at Penview Convention Centre (PCC) in Demak here yesterday.

It was jointly organised with Spark Malaysian Club to coincide with Sarawak Moto Day (Samoda) in which over 10,000 bikers from across Sarawak and Sabah gathered for the first motorbike jamboree programme in the state since last Friday.

Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah officiated at the carnival’s opening ceremony at 8 o’clock last night.

Featuring 15 artistes, the three-day carnival was headed by its president actress Didie Alias, who initiated the event for family leisure and fun time as well to provide more effective business platform for small local online and offline entrepreneurs from all parts of Malaysia to share and exchange knowledge on sales and marketing strategies.

A slew of activities and programme were held including a mini-concert, Boxing Hour Sales with super mark-down of 90 per cent, karaoke, colouring contest and games for children and lucky draws.

Actress Nad Zainal said she was thrilled with the enthusiasm displayed by the crowd throughout the weekend.

“It is beyond of my expectation. It is exciting to see such a huge and multi-racial crowd,” she told New Sarawak Tribune at the centre yesterday.

Nad, whose real name is Farah Nadia Zainal Abidin, added that her shoe collections, Farra, By Nad Zainal sold like hot cakes and she was keen to mark down the shoes during the last day.

“I think it is a very successful event. It is not only good for vendors but also good for me to meet my fans in Sarawak,” said Nad who also sold her own shoe brand.
