KUCHING: A school hall has its electrical cables exposed to the elements which pose a danger to the school teachers and students, especially when it rains.

DAP Sri Aman chairman Leon Jimat Donald who was visiting SJK Chung Hua Undop, Sri Aman yesterday said he was inspecting the school’s new open hall and was shocked to see the exposed electrical wiring.

He added that the contractor was irresponsible for subjecting both the teachers and students to the dangers of the exposed cables.

“The contractor even refused to build a wall to cover the stage,” Leon said.

In a press statement, Leon said by pointing out this issue did not mean that DAP are against the state government giving out contracts.

“We just fear that, in the wake of the enormous number of projects given to the people, some unscrupulous contractors might take advantage of the situation and deliver projects not according to the specifications due to shortage of officers monitor the projects,” he reasoned.
