KUCHING: A jobless man, who disappeared for a day, was found hanged from a tree in a jungle at Kampung Malaban, Samarahan at about 6am yesterday.
Henderick Ugil, 33, from Sri Aman, was a former offshore worker and had been jobless for six months.
According to his wife, she last saw him at 8am in their rented house at Taman Desa IImu on Monday before she went to work. After that, her husband went to his mother’s house for lunch at 12.30pm.
At 4.30pm, Henderick’s wife, who stayed in a rented house, contacted her mother-in-law and informed her that he had not returned home after going out on his motorcycle.
She said she called him and sent WhatsApp messages to him but he did not respond. Worried, she started calling his friends but none of them knew where he was.
At 4am yesterday, Henderick’s wife drove to Kota Sentosa and Stakan to look for him. Her brother-in-law also joined in the search and at last, they found his motorcycle at the edge of a jungle at Kampung Melaban in Samarahan.
Henderick’s wife went into the jungle with her brother-in-law and there, they found him hanged from a tree.
Her brother-in-law cut down the rope but failed to revive Henderick.
Initial investigations by the Samarahan police did not reveal any foul play.
Henderick had left a suicide note to his wife. His remains were later brought to the Sarawak General Hospital for a post mortem.
