SIBU: A 28-year-old man with six narcotics-related criminal records has been arrested at a house in Pulau Li Hua Island on Thursday afternoon for possessing six packets of the Methylenedioxymetha-phetamine (MDMA) drug.
Sibu District Police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, said a team of officers and staff of the Sibu Criminal Investigation Division (CID), headed by Inspector Kalatasan Prasad, conducted a raid and narcotics check at the house at 2.45pm on Thursday.
He said upon checking, the team found drug-suspected items in a drawer of a small wooden shelf placed on the closet near the toilet in the room.
“They found four orange plastic packets of drinks with the labelling ‘Ah Huat’ and two packets of powdered drinks named as ‘Tongkat Ali Ginseng Cafe’ which are suspected to have contained the drugs weighing 195.50g,” he added.
He said the team also discovered a transparent plastic packet containing Methamphetamine type drugs with a weight of 6.6g.
The suspect was immediately put under arrest for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952 and Section 39A (1) of the same Act.
The drugs worth RM1,900 were also seized from him.
“The suspect had admitted that the items were for his own consumption and also to be sold to his close friend,” said Stanley.
According to him, the suspect began to engage in drug trafficking when he was in his 20’s in June 2010.
He said the suspect, who was unemployed, tested positive for drugs in a urine test.
