No word from Putrajaya on relocation of High Court Registry: CM

MIRI: Putrajaya has not consulted Sarawak on its move to transfer the headquarters of the Registry of the High Court of Sarawak and Sabah, effective this May 1.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg disclosed this when approached by a group of local reporters after the launch of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) zone 13B (Piasau, Pujut and Senadin) yesterday afternoon at Eastwood Valley and Country Club here.

Abang Jo is greeted by nearly 3,000 supporters upon his arrival at Eastwood Valley and Country Club.

Asked on the state government’s next move, the chairman of Gabungan Parti Sarawak, replied, “We (the Sarawak government) will issue a statement on the matter soon.”

Since the formation of Malaysia, the registry has been located in Kuching, so the sudden move by Putrajaya was a shock for the state’s legal fraternities, lawmakers and politicians, and the public in general.

On the launch of GPS zone 13B, Abang Johari said with the change in the political landscape since the 14th general election, it is time for GPS to start a new era.
