KUCHING: A 21-year-old man was nabbed for possessing 10 transparent plastic packets containing dry leaves suspected to be marijuana at Kuching Civic Centre, Jalan Taman Budaya here last Friday.

A team of seven police personnel led by ASP Haji Ahmad Abang was conducting a snap check at the Kuching Civic Centre around 9.30pm last Friday when they stopped the suspect and conducted a search on him.

During the search the team found a bag the suspect was carrying containing 10 transparent plastic packets of dry leaves which was suspected to marijuana weighing 14.08 grams.

The suspect and his bag were later taken to the Kuching Central Police Station, Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang where the suspect is being detained in a lock-up.

In another case, a 23-year-old man was arrested for possessing two transparent plastic packets containing dry leaves suspected to be marijuana also at the Kuching Civic Centre, Jalan Taman Budaya last Saturday.

The suspect who was acting suspiciously was nabbed at 10.45pm by a police team led by ASP Ahmad Abang while patrolling the area.

A search on the suspect found a container with an identification card, a red driving licence and two transparent plastic packets containing dry leaves suspected to be marijuana weighing 1.24 grams.

The suspect and his belongings were later taken to the Kuching Central Police Station at Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang where the suspect is being detained in a lock-up.
