Microsoft has announced that Skype users can now call up to 50 people at the same time in its latest update. This change means that the number of possible call participants has been doubled, making video and audio calls easier for business use in particular, where conference calls with large numbers of participants aren’t unusual.
Along with this change, Skype’s notifications system for group calls has also been updated so that they are less obtrusive.
When there’s a group chat with a large number of participants, each user simply gets a ping asking them to join the call — instead of the long Skype ringing that’s heard far too often.
If the notification seems to be ignored, then callers can ask for an individual member to receive the usual ringing. – dpa
