KUALA LUMPUR: The retail price of RON97 petrol will go up one sen to RM2.81 per litre for the period April 27 to May 3.
The retail prices of RON95 petrol and diesel remain unchanged at RM2.08 and RM2.18 per litre for the same period, the Finance Ministry said in a statement yesterday.
“The estimated subsidy to be shouldered by the government for the period April 27 to May 3 is RM133.62 million,” the statement said.
It pointed out that based on calculations under the “automatic pricing mechanism”, the retail price of RON95 should go up one sen from RM2.50 per litre to RM2.51 per litre, and that for diesel should increase two sen from RM2.46 per litre to RM2.48 per litre.
However, the Finance Ministry said the retail prices of RON95 petrol and diesel have been maintained for the period in line with the government’s decision to stabilise the retail prices of petroleum products and reduce the people’s cost of living. – Bernama
