BORDER security along the Sarawak-Kalimantan border must be addressed immediately. Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu (GPS-Tanjong Datu) (pic) said she had brought up the matter during the last three sittings, however not much has been done.
“Now, with the newly completed Sematan-Telok Malano highway, there is ample and plenty of opportunity for border intrusion by our neighbours, both by land and sea through Tanjung Datu National Park,” she said when debating on TYT’s opening address at the august House.
“Therefore, I urge the National Security Council in Sarawak to bring this matter to their Federal counterpart to have this border security matter addressed forthwith,” she stressed.
Meanwhile, she also hoped the people in Tanjung Datu and visitors to Telok Melano and Telok Serabang would help to keep the surroundings clean.
“There is lack of enthusiasm among our people towards preserving the environment. Keeping our surrounding clean and tidy is problematic.
“The picturesque scenery of the village is spoilt by the unsightly presence of rubbish,” she said.
