KUCHING: A couple was among 11 individuals detained by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) in Mukah today.

In a 23-hour operation headed AADK Mukah district chief Felynora Joseph Na, three different locations were covered – Matu, Daro and Belawai.

Felynora said the 11 drug abusers detained were aged between 27 to 48 years old.

Ten were tested positive for methamphetamine and another was tested positive for marijuana.

“Investigations will be carried out under Section 3(1) of the Drug Addicts, Treatment and Rehabilitation Act 1983.

The officers carrying out inspection at the detainees’ house during the operation.

Separately, a sport utility vehicle (SUV) went up in flames, believed to have started from the engine bay, along Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman earlier today.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesman said the department received a distress call at 2.26pm.

A team of firefighters from Padungan fire station were deployed to the scene.

No injuries or casualties were reported during the incident. The operation ended at 3.25pm.

On a separate case, a motorcyclist suffered injuries to his head and other parts of his body following a collision with a car along Jalan Stephen Yong near Kuching City Mall commercial centre today.

An ambulance was summoned to the scene following a distress call.

The victim in his 40s was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) where he was warded at the Yellow Zone for treatment.

It is not known how the collision occurred.
