The Musical Fountain at Kuching Waterfront was deemed a complex project by the state government.
“Therefore, the government offered the construction tender on design-and-build basis to whichever company that met the criteria,” said Minister for Integrity and Ombudsman in the Chief Minister’s Department Datuk Talib Zulpilip.
“As I mentioned during our last sitting, the National Audit Department has also undertaken a review and audit work on this project,” he said in response to Pending assemblywoman, Violet Yong, who claimed to be disappointed with his ministry for not revealing what she called “the truth” about the RM31-million Musical Fountain.
Yong had asked why the state government allowed the tender winner, Autopower Consultant Sdn Bhd, to sub-contract the project to Jumsar Sarawak Sdn Bhd.
“The Minister of Integrity and Ombudsman should have disclosed this during his winding-up speech because people have the right to know,” she said.
