TAMIN State Assemblyman, Christopher Gira Sambang has urged the state government to speed up the laying of pipelines to supply treated water to the community along Sibu Bintulu Road.
He said yesterday that the people there, mainly from Pekan Selangau to Pekan Arip, depended on rain water and gravity feed water at the moment for their daily supply of water.
Gira also appealed to the government to expedite the supply of electricity to longhouses in the area.
“Some of the electric poles already installed in front of these longhouses don’t have electricity as it is not connected to the longhouses.
“This is due to the contractor waiting for testing and commissioning approval from the relevant authorities,” Gira said during his debate on the TYT’s address at the State Legislative Assembly sitting in Kuching.
