Final report on MA63 meeting out after July: Abang Johari
KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has assured that the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) cabinet committee meeting he attended in Kuala Lumpur recently went well.
According to him, it has a positive outcome.
“The first thing that we did was to look at the revenue sharing according to the constitution. It would be refined by the Finance Ministry and Economic Affairs Ministry and the states of Sabah and Sarawak.
“The technical committee has refined it and the refinement will go on until July this year.
“Secondly, we discussed our oil and gas revenue,” the Chief Minister told reporters after giving out 800 packs of ‘bubur lambuk’ (savoury porridge) at an event organised by Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) here on Sunday.
Abang Johari also told reporters that the outcome of the MA63 cabinet committee meeting would only be revealed after the final meeting in July this year.
Asked about the amendment to Article 1(2) of the Federal Constitution, he said the final report of the MA63 meeting would only be made known after July this year.
He stressed that the parties involved had agreed to the refining process and would continue the meeting up to July this year.
He added the results from the meeting might be tabled in Parliament later.
Besides Abang Johari, the MA63 meeting on Friday was also attended by Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Assistant Minister Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
