Lingga Assemblywoman, Hajah Simoi Peri (pic) has urged the government to approve a project to change water pipelines in Maludam to bigger ones with an estimated cost of RM2.9 million.

“We appreciate the water supply project from Kaki Wong Saratok to Beladin, including the suggestion of connecting the pipes from Beladin to Kampung Sepinang as soon as the project is completed.

“I was made to understand that it will help to solve water problems in Maludam but in my views, it will not be effective as long as the old pipelines used in Maludam are not replaced with bigger ones,” she said when debating TYT’s speech at the DUN sitting here, last Tuesday.

“I have spoken to engineers from the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department in Betong regarding my suggestion and they have looked into it and also estimated that the project will cost only RM2.9 million.

“Therefore, I urge the government to give consideration to my suggestion and approve the project to upgrade the pipelines in Maludam,” she said.
