KUCHING: For the past 30 years, the only access to the wooden house of Tan, a resident at Mile 14, Kuching-Serian Road, is a road built on an adjacent piece of land belonging to a company.
Now, Tan and his family are worried the road will be blocked because the company started construction on its land recently.
Tan has approached Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau chief Wilfred Yap to help him approach the company for a solution.
Yap is now trying his best to resolve the road access dispute between the affected parties amicably and has written to the company for an alternative access road to the main road before the current and only access to Tan’s wooden house can be closed.
During preliminary discussions between Yap and a representative of the company, the company has given its commitment that it will not close Tan’s only access to the main road until an amicable alternative access is decided and agreed upon by the affected parties.
Yap hopes to have a win-win situation for all parties concerned.
He will continue to follow up and monitor the situation until an amicable solution and settlement to the satisfaction of all affected parties are agreed upon.
