KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 20 participants joined Asian Football Club (AFC) Futsal Coaching Certificate Course Level-1 at Multipurpose Hall, Student Pavilion, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas).
Organised by Mas Gading Community College and cooperated with Sarawak Football Association (FAS) and Petra Jaya Futsal Club, the course started yesterday and will end on March 10.
The course operation was led by AFC Elite Futsal Instructor, Chiew Chun Yong, who also the head-coach of Malaysia Futsal Team and currently operating training for the preparation of SEA Sport 2017.
The launching ceremony of the course was officiated by Deputy President of FAS, Abang Sohardi Abang Zaini yesterday and he also the committee chairman of Coaching Development and Youth Development of the course.
“The objective of the course is to produce more coaches and cater the requirement of certification and accreditation in the State and the country in general,” said Sohardi.
He added that to-date the college have produced 52 coaches with AFC professional certificate Level-1 and seven in Level-2.
“This is a good achievement in the development of futsal since we are still lacking of certified coaches in Malaysia. Therefore, this programme is most welcomed,” he added.
Meanwhile, he said that he wanted to propose to AFC to organise the fitness and goalkeeper courses to cater for the lack of local goalkeepers in Sarawak.
The ceremony was also attended by Sport Council Chairman of Community College (MASKOM), Lt. Kol. Bersekutu (PA) Md Kassim Jaafar, Academic Deputy Director of Mas Gading Community College, Suharyati Sulaiman and Instructor Assistant, Busrah Ahmad.
