KUCHING: A self-employed man died after collapsing at a coffee shop in Batu Kawa New Township on Monday night.
The deceased has been identified as Yee Chin Chao from Taman Peony, Matang.
Yee was drinking with his friends at the coffee shop when he collapsed and fell.
His friends then immediately called an ambulance and also informed his family members.
Yee was taken to the Sarawak General Hospital in an ambulance where a doctor pronounced him dead.
Padawan police chief DSP Aidil Bolhassan said initial investigations revealed there were no foul play and that the deceased did not have any physical wounds. The deceased was the youngest of five siblings.
Aidil said when Yee was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital his pulse was weak and attempts to revive him failed.
“Nevertheless, the case is under investigation,” Aidil said.
Yee passed away at 9.52pm and his remains were taken to the hospital morgue for post-mortem.
Yee’s son said his father divorced his mother eight years ago. He also learned that his father was taking alcoholic drinks before he collapsed at the coffee shop.
