KUCHING: Hope Place Kuching, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to alleviating the plight of the poor and the deprived, has donated a wheelchair to Teo Hong Kim, 71.
Teo, a stroke patient, lives alone, relying on friends and her neighbours to take care of her as she does not have parents or relatives to do so. She is unable to move one side of her body.
Teo has been under the care of Hope Place Kuching since January 2018.
When Hope Place received a call from Teo’s neighbour regarding her need of a wheelchair, its founder Kelvin Wan delivered one to her without any delay.
The wheelchair will allow Teo to leave her bed and move around more easily.
Some of her monthly necessities include adult diapers and Ensure milk. However, her only source of income is the RM300 monthly payments from the Welfare Department.
Hope Place currently supports more than 190 families in need.
For more information, the organisation can be reached by phone at 082-505 987. The centre can also be visited from 8.30am – 5.30pm from Mondays to Fridays, and 8.45am – 12.00pm on Saturdays.
Should the public be interested in making a donation, the sum can be banked into Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching Maybank account number 5112-8900-1160. Donations are always highly appreciated by the organisation.
