KUCHING: A semi-detached house at Lorong Stutong here belonging to a man with a ‘Datuk’ title was broken into last Sunday evening.
The house owner claimed that cash and valuables worth more than RM300,000 were stolen from the house.
The ‘Datuk’ who was away, was informed by his staff of the break-in.
The burglars had apparently gained entry into the house via the side door.
Among the items stolen were a Rolex wristwatch worth RM75,000, gold jewelry worth RM95,000 and RM125,000 in cash, a camera costing RM7,000 and a laptop costing RM10,000.
According to a complainant who lodged the police report on behalf of his employer, his boss was away in Kuala Lumpur during the break-in.
The house was left vacant for seven days and the burglars were believed to have gained entry to the house. The burglars had ransacked every room in the house and a CCTV installed at the house was also stolen. The alarm system in the house was not triggered during the break-in.
Police found fingerprints in the master bedroom of the house and they are still looking into the case.
