KUCHING: The new Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief, Latheefa Koya will be able to bring a new dawn for Malaysia especially in combating corruption.
According to PBDSB Information Chief William Mangor, Putrajaya’s decision to appoint Latheefa as MACC chief is a right move as she is known for her “no-nonsense” approach.
“However due to her political past, whatever decision or action that she might make or take will always be questioned by the people.
“In order to show that she is worthy of her position, she must without fear and favour,” he said.
According to William, PBDSB supports the appointment of Latheefa and hoped that she would look into the cases in Sarawak especially those involving the “big fish”.
The Pakatan Harapan government, he said however, needed to explain on the appointment of Latheefa as the GE14 manifesto stated that the appointment of a MACC commissioner should go through the Parliament Select Committee first.
“Otherwise, this will reflect badly on them,” he added.
