BAU: The government has allocated RM30,000 to improve the access road and facilities at Borneo Tribal Village (BTV), Kampung Apar, Singai, Bau.
Utilities Minister Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom announced the grant when launching the Borneo Tribal Festival (BTF) 2019 yesterday.
Dr Rundi said the allocation was requested by BTF advisor Datuk Peter Nansian for two minor rural projects which is the extension of 2.5 km of the remaining Adis Soba road which will also serve the landowners in the area and construction of a 3km jungle footpath in the park.
“Seeing that we are here to celebrate the BTF 2019 and the 70th birthday cum 35th wedding anniversary of Datuk Peter, I am glad to inform that the request for the grant is approved,” Dr Rundi announced.
He also said his ministry would look into the issue of the water and electricity supply as BTV is located at the end of the village and there are no houses beyond that area.
He noted that the native Sarawakians have three months of Gawai celebration where the pre-Gawai is celebrated in May, the actual Gawai celebration in June and the post-Gawai celebration in July.
“With that, I advise the celebrants to not spend too much during these celebrations and always be safe,” he urged.
Among those present at the launching ceremony were his wife Datin Sri Loreta Sawot, Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, Batang Ai assemblyman Malcolm Mussen, Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu, Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang and acting Deputy State Secretary Datu Ik Pahon Joyik.
