DEBAK: Saribas assemblyman Mohammad Razi Sitam said the state leaders are aware that education is important to the state’s continued progress.
He said it is for this reason that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is ready to set aside substantial amount of money towards developing education-related infrastructure in the state.
“Today Sarawak government takes care of the physical development of schools, especially those in the rural areas,” he said when officiating at a village-level Majlis Ramah-Tamah Aidilfitri at Dewan Datuk Bandar Hamid in Kampung Debak here, yesterday.
Razi also said the state had previously offered RM1 billion to the federal government to boost the development of education.
“I am convinced that the state government is serious in assisting the federal government.
“With that money the state wants to make sure all dilapidated schools will receive the right kind of attention,” he said.
Razi also urged students to strive harder to achieve good grades in their examinations.
“It is the only way for you to proceed to higher education,” he said.
Razi later presented incentives to 18 Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) high achievers. The incentives were from the Debak Malay Welfare Trust Board.
