SIBU: The Alumni Association of Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) is organising the 4th Pilley Heritage Run 2019 on June 22.
The organising chairman, Mike Wong Kee Ing said that all proceeds from the event will go to the construction of a new student classroom block at the institute.
Sibu MP Oscar Ling is expected to flag-off the run at 6.30am and 6.45am.
The event is divided into two categories, namely 5-km and 2-km fun run which are open to men, women and children.
The flag-off for the 5-km run is at 6,30am while the 2-km fun run is at 6.45am.
Methodist Pilley Institute is the oldest not-for-profit higher learning institution in Sarawak.
The event will help raise funds for the new classroom block which will enhance the learning environment on campus and increase the students’ population to 1,700.
The CEO and principal of MPI, Hii King Kai urged all alumni and the public to support the institute by taking part in the charity event.
He hoped that the event will also promote family bonding and fun.
Wong added that the highlight of this year’s event is the setting up of more than 40 booths to feature a mini zoo, musical band, face-painting, lucky draws and numerous games especially for the children.
Registration fees and donations received will be used to fund the event and for the MPI building fund.
Thus far, more than 1,200 have registered for the event.
All participants are to report to the event’s venue at least 30 minutes before the flag-off.
Collection of race kits will be from June 19 to 21 at Methodist Pilley Institute Admin Office during office hours.
