KAPIT: Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Tapah Ata, has reminded the people of Kapit to show their undivided support to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to ensure continuity of the development earmarked for the division.
“Several federal projects have been terminated when the new government took over. We do not want our Baleh HEP Dam and URDA (Upper Rajang Development Agency) to also suffer a similar fate when other people administer Sarawak,” he said during Gawai visits to several longhouses in the division.
“These two projects will bring enormous benefits to the people of Kapit and expedite rural development by providing them with opportunities to improve their income and livelihood. The government will also focus on building infrastructure,” explained Tapah.
He called on everyone to support the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and the GPS government for the good of Sarawak, particularly Kapit.
He said he supported any call to empower local Sarawakians to govern themselves as only Sarawakians knew what was best for themselves.
“We have learnt good lessons from our past partners and now, we will move forward stronger and focus on issues on developing Sarawak,” Tapah added.
