KUCHING: Kuching City South Council (MBKS) will hold a Gawai-Raya gathering at Dewan Masyarakat, Jalan Padungan here this Saturday (June 29) from 11.15am to 2.30pm.
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is expected to grace the occasion.
MBKS in a press statement issued yesterday said the occasion would be an ideal avenue to enhance the spirit of cooperation and neighbourliness amongst the various communities and to inculcate good family values, volunteerism and friendliness.
People from all walks of life and ages are welcome to participate in the half-day event, it added.
The occasion will also serve as a platform for the people to interact and get together.
“After all, we hope to achieve a friendly neighbourhood that is dependent, unified, and peaceful through this meaningful event.
“We, at MBKS will consistently and pro-actively make positive contributions to foster racial harmony and social stability by organising and supporting many activities that will promote inter-ethnic understanding and cross-cultural appreciation in Kuching,” it said.
