KUCHING: Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sarawak has described news about the party top leaders coming here to officiate at a Gawai event on June 30 as “not true at all”.
“The party head office has no knowledge at all, either about the Gawai event or any invitation being extended to the party top three leaders,” it said in a statement issued yesterday.
The info had gone viral on social media, announced on local radio stations and published in some of the local print media.
Based on the viral info, Bersatu chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would be accompanied by party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir for the trip here.
“We are not at all involved in organising the event. We believed it is the work of some irresponsible individuals or groups. Any event without the consent and knowledge of the party branch is questionable,” said the statement.
Bersatu Sarawak took the matter seriously especially when it involved individuals or groups using the party’s name without adhering to the proper SOP, ethics and protocol.
“We’ve reported this matter to the party top leaders for the case to be investigated,” the statement added.
