BELADIN: The water level at the reservoir of the Beladin water treatment facility is critically low, affecting much-needed supply to over 1,000 homes.
Beting Maro PBB deputy head Awang Sarbini Gapor told reporters that the entire Beladin village was suffering from water shortage.
“As informed by the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) Betong, the crisis is expected to continue until there is rain,” said Awang.
“Residents are urged to preserve their water as long as there is no rain. We have been informed by JBALB that the water level in the reservoir is critical and the pump that is used to pump out water is above the water level.”
Awang revealed that the issue had been brought up to the attention of the department along with a discussion with Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor.
“To date, JBALB has taken the initiative by sending water using tankers. However, the residents are unhappy as there are only two tankers used to supply water to the village.
“It is not enough to fulfil the needs of more than 1,000 houses in the village. Therefore, we hope that an initiative can be taken to increase the number of tankers as well as its frequency,” he said.
In another development, water from the Kaki Wong treatment facility can only be used for another two months as JBALB is finalising work on the project.
