IPOH: Perak government welcomes any collaborative partnership and alliance with the Sarawak government as one of the key drivers in spurring the ecotourism and biodiversity industry.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said working together would benefit both parties and he welcomed recommendations which could act as catalysts to prepare the national campaign for Visit Malaysia Year 2020.
“Although our products are different, I believe that with the right initiatives and efforts we can work together,” he told New Sarawak Tribune after speaking at Perak Media Tour 2019 dinner held in the Lost World of Tambun here recently.
He said the strong relations between the states had enabled him to learn from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg about exploring possibilities for collaboration, for example, in the development of sports.
“I have told him that I would like to visit Sarawak to learn how its government has successfully managed to develop the state’s sports industry, specifically the training of athletes.
“Sarawak and Sabah are way ahead in both the ecotourism and sports industries in Malaysia. There are a lot of things that we can learn from these states,” he said.
Earlier, Ahmad Faizal welcomed 23 media practitioners from 16 media outlets throughout Malaysia to Media Tour Perak 2019 dinner function.
Organised by the Department of Information Malaysia, the 14the annual tour took the journalists to visit several places of interests in Ipoh, Taiping, Kuala Kangsar and Royal Belum Rainforest from June 28 to July 1.
