KAPIT: Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Kapit branch held a “ngiling bidai” ceremony to mark the closing of Gawai Dayak here recently.

Speaking at the function, Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat lauded Kapit SDNU for organising activities that involved its main, youth and women wings, thus fostering closer ties among them and the community.

“I hope SDNU could set a good example to other Dayak NGOs to observe and practice our traditions because our tradition and custom are our identity,” he added.

He also asked the community for its continued support, saying: “Even though this is only my third year since 2016 as a people’s elected representative, as you can see there are many projects implemented here.”

“A lot more projects are being planned. I ask for your support so that I can do more for Kapit. This is our hometown and we all love our hometown. I am armed with a burning desire to serve you.”
