ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor state government is interested in enterprise diversification and is recommending Felda settlers get bzzz-y with a stingless honey (madu kelulut) bzzz-ness to boost income.
State Islamic Affairs, Agriculture and Rural Development Committee chairman Tosrin Jarvanthi told the Johor State Assembly today that a madu kelulut production hub is being envisioned for the Felda settlement in Kulai district.
“The pilot project will be started in Felda Taib Andak to generate extra income for the residents,” Tosrin said while replying a question from Rashidah Ismail (BN-Pasir Raja) on the local government’s role in helping the Felda settlers.
He added that MD 2 pineapple cultivation will also begin on 12.14ha of land in Felda Ulu Tebrau, Ulu Tiram under the Green Revolution (Revolusi Hijau) programme.
“The programme is aimed at developing idle land — under the state and federal government, too — estimated to be more than 1,000ha,” he said. – Bernama
