MIRI: An audio message circulating on social media yesterday morning warning residents of Jalan Bulan Sabit here that the road will collapse is untrue.

“An audio message claiming that Jalan Bulan Sabit will collapse is faked,” said Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting when contacted on the message yesterday.

The fake message has been circulating on social media like wildfire since yesterday morning.

“I have spoken to Miri City Council (MCC) and Sarawak Sewage Department director and Sim Yih Seng of Hock Seng Lee Bhd the person in charge of this project and they have all confirmed that the audio message which has gone viral is faked news,” Ting said.

According to Ting, further checks made at the site revealed that the tunneling work has not started yet at the location mentioned in the message.

“The contractor had lodged a police report regarding this matter,” he pointed out.
