KUCHING: A statement recently made by Sarawak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chief coordinator Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Mohd Yusof is like the stuff that make bad dreams.
Among other things, he reportedly said, “If anyone says we are coming to Sarawak to divide its people, we want proof. Sarawak is a wealthy state, but we do not see this wealth being shared with the people.”
PBB Youth deputy chief, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, said this was an example of an unqualified minister who was full of rhetoric.
“He practised dirty politics when he claimed that Sarawakians don’t have any share of the wealth of their state,” he said.
To him, this was an example of unintelligible and malicious politics. He observed that during his trip here, Redzuan announced some allocation of funds (taxpayers’ money) and strutted around with arrogance.
Fazzrudin, who is also Tupong assemblyman, recalled that when Pakatan Harapan (PH) was in the opposition, its leaders often promised that if they formed the government, they would eliminate road tolls, abolish higher education loans, create a million jobs, and so on.
Well, they are now the government, but most of the promises remain unfulfilled, and Fazzrudin is appalled that Redzuan had the gall to come to Sarawak and insulted the intelligence of the local people with his rhetoric and double-speak.
“People don’t want such politics. They want what the federal government has to offer,” he said.
He also pointed out that Sarawak Bersatu is just a tiny part of the nationwide structure of the main party so, for example, even in deciding on the local leadership, they must wait for the central body to give the final word.
“Meanwhile, Redzuan can only hope to help Sarawakians, whatever that means. Hope is all that he can do,” he said.
