KUCHING: Native Land Development Assistant Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn is supportive of any move to name a road or other infrastructure after the late Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit, former Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water.
“That is not up to me, but it is up to the road naming committee. In remembrance of him, it is most welcome,” he told reporters during his visit to the residence of the late Dawos at Stutong Indah area yesterday.
Such support was a reflection of the many contributions made by the Dawos to the state and nation.
“With his previous role as deputy minister, he had certainly done a lot of projects for the state,” he said, referring to Dawos’ former positions as Deputy Minister of Tourism and later as Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
According to Sagah, Dawos was also a well known environmentalist during his time as head of the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB).
“Even before he was a deputy minister, he was among a delegation of Malaysians to the World Rainforest Conference in Copenhagen and several other places,” he elaborated, adding that this was a contribution not just to the state, but to Malaysia as well.
