KUCHING: The Sarawak Beyond Paradigm Summit that concluded last Monday was an insightful experience for more than 600 participants.

Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad CEO Datuk Dr Ir Mohamad Abdul Karim Abdullah said he was delighted that the programme was well-received by local authorities and the private sector.

“Their participation in the exhibition and the discussion forum itself along with the paper presentations were very encouraging.

“In my view, through the interaction and discussions conducted by the parties involved, all of them were satisfied with the programme,” he said.

Abdul Karim pointed out that the most important thing was the need to follow up on the matters discussed.

Serba Dinamik chairman Abdul Kadier Sahib was also pleased with the success of the programme.

“It was well organised. This time for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0), we can see that there are participants at all levels including industry captains, communities and even students from primary and secondary schools,” he said.

“We chose them because the IR 4.0 era is their era.”

Abdul Kadier stressed that the next step was to ensure the state moved towards IR 4.0, which hinged on automation and artificial intelligence (AI).

“But the first thing that we have to do is to obtain a good platform so that the regulators from government agencies and the private sector involved in advancing the industry can sit down and brainstorm the best way to simplify its implementation,” he said.

The three-day Sarawak Beyond Paradigm Summit was the second one to be organised after the first summit in Kuala Lumpur.

Among the industry speakers were David Hanson, Dr Janwei Pan, Kazuto Hirose and Mahadhir Aziz.

One of the main attractions was a humanoid robot named Sophia, which conversed with Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The event was organised by Serba Dinamik IT Solutions Sdn Bhd with Mida, Magic, MDEC and Microsoft. Other shareholders were Sains, Centexs and Huawei.
