KUCHING: Police arrested two men in different locations in Bau yesterday morning for possession of syabu. The first raid was conducted at 8.45am.
Acting on information received, Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said his men raided a house at Kampung Sibuluh and found a tube of crystal power with an estimate weight of 15g in a bag.
The suspect was arrested under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and also under Section 15(1)(a) under the same Act for drug consumption. Police then went to the second house at 9.10am at Kampung Grogo, Jalan Bau/Lundu and arrested a 25-year-old man where two transparent plastic packets containing syabu were seized.
The drugs weighed 1.03g and the suspect also tested positive for drug use. He will face similar charges as the first suspect. Poge added that both suspects had a history of drug cases and were remanded for further investigation.
He said under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, if convicted, the suspects can be sentenced to a maximum of 5 years’ imprisonment and a fine of RM100,000. For consumption, they can be fine to RM5,000 or jail not exceeding two years or both.
