KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg presented business tithe totalling RM250,000 from SEDC to General Manager of Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) Datu Mohd Shibli Mohd Nailie.
This was done in conjunction with a ‘Majlis Berbuka Puasa, Solat Berjemaah Maghrib, Isyak and Terawih’ hosted by Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) for 138 children of Sarawak Orphans Welfare Organisation (PERYATIM) and 16 orphans from ‘SEDC Family’ at Grand Margherita Hotel (GMH), here on Monday night.
The Chief Minister and his wife Datin Amar Hajah Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang were present to grace the event and breaking fast together with children and guests.
They were treated to an array of local delicacies at GMH’s famous ‘Macam-Macam Ada Ramadan Buffet’.
Johari presented the children and orphans with festive goodies and ‘duit raya’ courtesy of SEDC in the presence of General Manager of SEDC Haji Soedirman Aini.
In the spirit of Ramadan, SEDC is reaching out to the needy especially with their preparation for upcoming Hari Raya through giving out aids to enrich the lives of the beneficiaries while making their Ramadan month more meaningful.
This annual event was part of SEDC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and was jointly organised with GMH and Riverside Majestic Hotel.
Prior to breaking fast together, children and guests later performed Solat Berjemaah Maghrib, Isyak and Teraweh at Dewan Asajaya led by State Mufti Department Ustaz Haji Mohammad Fauzi Hairani.
Also present at the event were Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi and Assistant Minister of Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
