LIMBANG: Folk of Kampung Bulantak near here finally heaved a sigh of relief as their water supply shortage was resolved with the construction of water storage tanks in the village.

Kampung Bulantak chief Abdul Aji Ali said the water facility was sufficient to cater for the 60 odd villagers who had long been suffering because of the lack of clean water supply. He claimed that villagers had to go to the market to buy mineral water because there were no other sources of water.

“The distance from Kampung Bulantak to the town is a struggle for the villagers without land transport,” he said when met at the village recently.

According to Abdul Aji, since the storage tank was set up at the end of last year, the villagers no longer experience water supply problem even during the dry season.

“The water supply is adequate even though it has not been raining for weeks.

“The villagers can use the water for their daily consumption such as for cooking, washing clothes and so on,” he said.

He expressed his appreciation to the Sarawak government, especially Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for his concern for the people of Kampung Bulantak.

He added that in addition to the clean water supply, the village would also receive other basic amenities such as electricity and road connectivity soon.
