Couple nabbed for drug peddling

KUCHING: An unemployed man and his foreign girlfriend were nabbed for peddling drugs in Kota Samarahan on Wednesday afternoon. The 34-year-old from Taman Malihah and his 25-year-old girlfriend from China were caught in a house in Samarahan.

When police checked the upper floor of the house, they found two transparent plastic packages containing pills believed to be ecstasy. Both suspects were arrested and detained under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

A urine test was conducted on both suspects and results were negative. The two were detained for further investigation.

State Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) chief Supt Hasnir Abdul Hamid confirmed the arrest. He said police will continue their battle against drugs and called for the public’s cooperation in providing information if they suspect anyone dealing or taking drugs.
