SNEAKER marketplace GOAT is bringing some of its most coveted styles to Bergdorf Goodman. The brand has teamed up with the New York department store to launch a “curated shopping experience” at the Bergdorf Goodman Men’s Store on 5th Avenue that will see rare sneakers go up for sale. Highlights include styles from Chanel’s collaboration with Pharrell on the Adidas NMD Human Race Trail and the auto-lacing Air Mag ‘Back To The Future’.
“Retail and resale are just at the beginning of their convergence, and as the global demand for streetwear increases, we will continue to see its influence in the luxury market,” said Daishin Sugano, cofounder and CPO of GOAT Group, in a statement.
“Collaborating with Bergdorf Goodman, the iconic luxury retailer, exemplifies the endless possibilities in the industry.” “Sneakers and athleticdriven sportswear have been a leading component of the designer and luxury menswear world, and we see this influence continuing to be very important,” added Bruce Pask, Men’s Fashion Director at Bergdorf Goodman.
The installation, which is now open and will run through New York Fashion Week, is the latest in a string of major moves for GOAT, which was founded in 2015 and has since grown into a major online sneaker marketplace offering everything from general releases to rare exclusives. Last month, the company announced its official entry into the Chinese marketplace with a localised GOAT app and a WeChat Mini Program. – Relaxnews
