MIRI: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday morning set September 26 for mention of the case involving a man who is accused of murdering a businessman, George Tang Kee Luang, 60.
Subordinate Court registrar Nuur Hafiza Yatim fixed the date after the prosecution requested for more time to get all necessary reports ready, including the chemist report. The accused, Zulfaldy Shafieq Ali, 27, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder which provides for death penalty upon conviction.
Zulfaldy allegedly committed the crime on June 29 between 2.25pm and 2.54pm at a road nearby Maritime Training Centre (SMTC) in Kuala Batu 1, Kuala Baram. Zulfaldly was not represented. Inspector Mohd Khairi Mohd Noor prosecuted and no plea was taken from the accused.
Tang’s lower half body was found on July 2, floating in Sungai Niah by two crab hunters around 1.30pm. The victim had been reported missing by his family on June 29.
