KABONG: This coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration is really something to look forward to for 51 orphans who received cash donation (‘duit raya’) from Kabong State Assemblyman, Mohd Chee Kadir.
The donation was distributed to orphans from Kabong’s central zone, Kampung Nyabor, Kampung Sessang, Sungai Pasir, Kampung Gerigat and Kampung Empelam at the Masjid Lama Tok Amal Kampung Nyabor yesterday.
Earlier in his speech, Chee said the programme was a proof of a government’s concern in helping to ease the burden of the less fortunate.
“Every year we will be giving donations to orphans like this so that they can enjoy the pleasure of celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri soon,” he explained.
He said, in view of the large number of orphans, he suggested that the Orphans Welfare Association to be set up in the area.
“Orphans Welfare Association needs to be set up in order to safeguard their welfare,” he said.
According to Chee, orphans should not be allowed to live without direction and purpose.
“Hence, we should pay attention to this group especially by giving them education and guidance so that they become successful people.
“When they have succeeded in their lives, this group will be able to contribute towards the development of the country,” said Chee.
Also held at the event was a presentation of cheque for minor rural project (MRP) grants to five mosque and surau committees for Kabong central zone with a total amount RM19,000.
Among the recipients were Surau Khairul Ummah Kampung Hulu Sessang, committee of Masjid Lama Tok Amal Kampung Nyabor, Sessang Islamic Welfare Trust Board, AJK of Lebai Mat Mosque Kampung Empelam and JKK Mosque Kampung Nyabor Baru.
Also present were Chee Kadir’s wife, Maryani Mohd Yassin.
