KUCHING: A businessman who fell into depression after his wife’s death two years ago committed suicide by hanging himself in his two-storey house at Greenville Park here on Thursday afternoon.

Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan confirmed that the police had received a report on the incident at 1.15pm.

Fang Khing Hua, 48, hanged himself using a cable. His sister, who discovered the body, cut the cable in panic which led to some bleeding on Fang’s head when he fell to the ground.

Supt Aidil revealed that Fang’s sister was constantly with her brother after he complained of extreme stress.

Earlier that day, Fang’s sister brought him to a clinic to undergo treatment at 9.30am. After the session at the clinic she sent him home.

Fang’s sister left to return to check on him at 11.30am, which was when she found him dead.

Fang’s remains were sent to the Sarawak General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem.

Meanwhile, a construction worker did not get to meet up with his brother for a medical appointment when he died on the way.

Vong Kuet Shim

Vong Kuet Shim, 48, from Mile 18, Jalan Kuching-Serian was supposed to accompany his brother for a medical check-up at Sarawak General Hospital when he stopped by the roadside, lost consciousness and never recovered.

Passersby noticing the car parked in an awkward manner checked it out to find Voon lying motionless on his driver’s seat yesterday morning.

The emergency services called to the scene rushed Voon to the hospital, but he was beyond
saving.

His brother later revealed that Vong had a heart problem but the death was unexpected.

The deceased leaves behind a wife and a child.
